About Hemp CBD

Center for Food Safety

With the recent federal legalization of the growing of hemp, combined with the legalization of cannabis (at some level) in 33 states, there has been an explosion of personal care products and supplements such as oils, tinctures, capsules, and body lotions containing cannabidiol, better known as CBD, derived from the hemp plant. Hemp is different than marijuana in that it has less than 0.3% of the psychoactive chemical compound THC, thus it cannot get you "high." CBD has become popular for its purported ability to help reduce pain and anxiety, leading to a huge growth in the market for products containing CBD.

CFS aims to provide consumers with independent information about how CBD products are produced and processed, allowing them to make more informed decisions in the marketplace.
